WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF VISIL DENTURES COMPARED TO CLASSIC ACRYLATE DENTURES?
The advantages of skeletal prostheses are their strength, stability, the transmission of chewing pressure through the teeth and gums, the possibility of installing additional hidden elements that replace the classic visible hooks, as well as the much more difficult breaking of these works.
HOW TO PREVENT BREATH FROM THE MOUTH?
Only brushing your teeth cannot remove all the deposits that are between the teeth, so the food left behind starts to rot, resulting in bad breath. It is necessary to brush your teeth often and use dental floss.
It is extremely important to come for regular check-ups at the dentist every 6 months, in order to control the oral state of the patient's mouth and teeth through ultrasonic tartar removal and tooth sanding and to minimize or completely eliminate bad breath.
The cause of unpleasant breath, however, can also be various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract or the respiratory system, so in this case a visit to a specialist is necessary.
IS TEETH WHITENING HARMFUL?
Preparations used for teeth whitening are based on carbamide or hydrogen peroxide.
Research has shown that there are no significant changes in whiteness if preparations with a lower concentration of carbamide peroxide are applied and in the time intervals that we recommend.
WHY ARE THE GUMS FLOODING AT THE PLACE WHERE THE METAL-CERAMIC CROWN WAS MADE?
In most cases, the cause of gum staining is the installation of a metal abutment and its final processing during the production of a metal-ceramic crown, which results in metal shavings being pressed into the gums.
In the PROSMILE dental practice, this possibility was completely avoided by installing metal-free ceramic CAD CAM crowns (endocrowns) or fiberglass ceramic posts.
SHOULD YOU AVOID VISITS TO THE DENTIST DURING PREGNANCY OR IS IT JUST A MYTH?
Due to hormonal changes, pregnant women have gums that are more susceptible to inflammation, more sensitive, more swollen and prone to bleeding during normal oral hygiene.
This should not be a reason for brushing the teeth superficially and not using dental floss, because inadequate oral hygiene leads to the accumulation of plaque, the formation of caries and the formation of calculus, which in extreme, more drastic cases can lead to periodontitis and tooth loss. Caries formation in pregnant women is also caused by increased acidity in the mouth, which in the first trimester is a consequence of morning sickness and vomiting.
It is best to perform dental procedures before the 8th month of pregnancy. X-ray imaging is best avoided in the first trimester, as this is the time of fetal organogenesis, although the risk of radiation exposure and exposure to the fetus is reduced to a minimum. As for anesthesia, it can be given to pregnant women without affecting the fetus.
IS IT DANGEROUS TO TAKE ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY PRESCRIBED BY A DENTIST DURING PREGNANCY?
In the first trimester of pregnancy, dentists usually avoid the use of antibiotics, except in situations where there is a serious infection that can endanger the health of the expectant mother and her baby. It is preferable to determine the type of antibiotic in consultation with the gynecologist who manages the pregnancy.
IS ANESTHESIA IN DENTAL INTERVENTIONS SAFE TO USE DURING PREGNANCY?
Anesthesia, like all other medications, is avoided in the first trimester, but it is not absolutely contraindicated. If dental intervention is necessary in the first trimester, it is preferable to give anesthesia because the pain itself can have negative consequences for the mother and the fetus.
TEETH GRINDING (BRUXISM)
Bruxism is excessive and unconscious clenching and grinding of the teeth, which most often occurs during sleep and leads to cracking of the tooth enamel and receding of the gums.
The solution is the creation of protective films that are worn during the night, which prevent further wear of your teeth and pain in the joints, ears and head.
WHEN SHOULD A CHILD BE TAKEN TO THE DENTIST FOR THE FIRST TIME?
It is necessary to start visiting the dentist when the child is two, and no later than two and a half years old. This is necessary in order to control the health of the child's oral cavity, and at the same time to accustom the child to the dentist and the environment of the office. Parents should, when they visit the dentist for their teeth, take their child with them in order to influence the child's behavior in the office by personal example.
DO YOU NEED TO REPAIR THE MILK TEETH?
Baby teeth should be repaired, as their health is very important for the proper development of the jaws. Baby teeth should be treated the same as permanent teeth.
WHEN SHOULD BRUSHING CHILDREN'S TEETH START?
Oral hygiene in children should be started very early, already with the eruption of the first milk teeth.
